Dishes
Shrimp Sambal
This is a typical dish from Singapore that is hot and spicy. Sambal is a Malay word for sauce and when you ask for any kind of sambal, it is usually spicy. Tomatoes and chilies are tempered with other local ingredients. A dish that is unique around Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Mee Goreng
Another dish that is sold in the Hawker centers in Singapore and Malaysia. Mee is noodles and Goreng means fried. This dish is so versatile that when you order it, it can be made to your specification. The heat, the meat and vegetables are chosen according to your taste. The basic mee goreng is cooked with yellow mee that can be bought at Chinese grocery stores. Onions, garlic, chilli to name a few of the ingredients are cooked together quickly and tossed with the noodles (mee), along with meat and vegetables. Rice noodles are also used.

Biriani
A dish usually cooked and served for special occasions. Briani is a rice dish that is cooked various ways in different parts of India. Basmati rice is always the choice of rice for this dish because of its nutty flavor. The rice is cooked with spices and then layered with meat curry or vegetarian curry. it is also cooked plain with nuts and raisins. Saffron is soaked with rose water for added flavor.
