   About
Me
My background in cooking started at the age of 10, watching my mother who was a trained Chef in Singapore. She would always let me help her because of my interest. As years went by, I started cooking for the whole family at the age of 15. After my move to the US, I taught several cooking classes at Surry Community College in Dobson, NC and continued to teach private classes after I moved to Raleigh, NC. For the last 30 years, I have developed recipes and improved on recipes that I had created for my clients during my catering years. This new approach for teaching was prompted by several of my friends, clients and others who have tasted my cooking. Cooking is a passion for me and the happiness I receive is when I see the satisfaction and joy in their faces. My cuisine is made up of Singapore Indian, Singapore Chinese, Singapore Malay, Indonesian, Italian, Mexican and French. Being creative is wonderful and I hope my classes will empower you to do the same. Life is like a plate of food that is colorful, aromatic and simply delicious.

Chef Guna and Alton Brown
Me and Alton Brown of the food network.

I was invited to be a local chef for the Cooking Show at Raleigh Convention center on October 18th, 2003. It was an all day event where several local chefs and celebrity chef Alton Brown showed the attendees various techniques on cooking, varieties of dishes, as well wine tasting. It was indeed a pleasure for me to demonstrate my cooking abilities to the crowd and to meet and work with Alton.
